Some men regard marriage as the end of passion and settle down to being just comfortable. Perhaps traditional sentiments like “till death do us part” do seem to paint a bleak picture for the usually commitment phobic male.
The man tends to think of the wedded state as imprisonment while the woman regards it as a bond of heart and soul. Both are right in some ways. However, what makes commitment practical in every marriage is trust. With commitment, both parties can trust each other for the rest of their married lives, for both their physical and emotional wellbeing.
It takes trust to make things work, because without it, commitment is like an annoying itch which can soon develop into an open wound if you keep scratching at it.
